This was the first time playing as a PC, I'm usually a forever DM.
I created a Sorcerer/Fighter Jester that never really uses damaging spell and prefers to fight creatively using his environment. He was chaotic neutral.
Some examples:
Using Gust to blast lots of rocks towards a witch
Using "reduce" on a hobgoblin on a bridge, then blasting him to the side into the lava beneath him using Gust.
Rope trick to get an unconscious party member out of a crevice.
Persuading/intimidating a goblin army to usurp their Knightmare King by using Thaumaturgy and Alter Self to pretend I was the Person of their God Maglubiyet. I actually defeated a boss myself this way.
Then a session later our level 5 party died to a unicorn. Fun times.
